About our team...
Cowbridge RFC Ladies Team is now into its second season having been formed under the brainwave of Hannah Lewis in the summer of 2007. With the support of Cowbridge RFC and funding from the National Lottery Community Chest grant scheme we have been able to provide an outlet for ladies interested in keeping fit & healthy through the means of playing rugby. Not only is it a great way to stay in shape but also meet like-minded ladies.
Currently, we only have a senior side (must be 17yrs old as of Sept 2008) but are looking to develop younger teams in the near future. For season 2008/09 the ladies will be playing in South Division Two.
The development of the team has been led by Head Coach Kevin Mably, who also coaches the senior mens team at Cowbridge. No longer does any 'lady-chat' shock him and he has become hardenned to our ways. He is assisted by Andy Leitch and Dai Breed in progressing our playing skill and technique.
Players vary in age and playing standard but all that matters is that you have enthusiasm and a liking for mud! Previous rugby knowledge is not essential as we have competent coaches to ensure you learn all the skills and rules of the game. Age, size and speed don't matter because the beauty with rugby is that there is a position to suit everyone.
Interested in playing? Or would you prefer to assist off the pitch? Then look no further than Cowbridge Ladies RFC. Feel free to come and meet the girls and have a drink in the club house or if you want to jump right in then join us at training.
